I have worked with Robyn on and off over the years.  When I find myself stuck on the horns of a decision that I just am not getting made, I have found Robyn to be a very valuable, trustworthy, non-judgemental ally in the process of getting on with it.
When asked, I have recommend Robyn to several friends over the years, and without hesitation, recommend her to you if you've found yourself at this website wondering if you should go for it.

I have been to several therapists since my teens, and Robyn was the only one who I saw more than once, because I felt something was different with her.  Rather than lecturing me about my own life/mind, she listened carefully to the situation and gave sound advice, like a wise friend.  Even after one session I was able to take away tidbits that I would come back to later on when I was struggling.  What I learned from Robyn were important emotional and behavioral life skills, such as how to accept unpleasant feelings and how to communicate effectively in difficult situations, so even though my life (the story) keeps changing I can apply the same techniques.

I have been seeing Robyn for the last five years, initially regularly and then off and on for tune-ups, and have never had such a positive experience with a therapist or counselor. She has helped me to feel comfortable taking an active participant role in my life, instead of merely observing it. In the last five years she has helped me to discover the communication methods that work best for me and I continue to employ those outside of our sessions. I would have never gotten to the happy, healthy place I am without her and would highly recommmend her.   B.D., Naperville (22)

More than listening and asking questions, Robyn offers pragmatic ideas and a method to help her patients achieve the type of living goals they’re striving to attain.

When I began therapy with Robyn Norman at the end of 2006, I had little hope in living. Before coming to her, I went to a local mental health crisis facility. There were many changes going on in my life such as moving, new relationship, turning forty, empty nester, and for the first time in my life, discovering who I really was.
At the point I began seeing Robyn for therapy, I had suffered with depression since I was a very young girl. As a result, I had low self-esteem, unstable relationships and poor work outcomes. I was also diagnosed with adult ADD later the next year. Robyn helped me determine three long term goals, all with target dates of one to two years. I have listed these because I feel they are important to show the end result.
The first goal was to reduce the reoccurrence of depressive episodes with the help of medication and to identify two areas of competence and ongoing activities related to them. After seeing Robyn I was able to find proper medication and see the importance of helping myself. By doing this I was able to start back to school and later complete my bachelors’ degree. I am now singing in my home church and other local and surrounding area churches.
The second goal was to identify a career path and create a plan and achieve it. Not only did I complete my bachelor’s degree, majoring in psychology, I am working on my master’s degree in teaching and will become an intervention specialist (special education). With the help from Robyn, the confusion lifted, not to mention my self-esteem.
The third goal was to develop new communication skills that result in reduced conflict and improved relationships. I have been married for over three years now to a very supportive husband. We have a good relationship that continues to grow. Also, I have built several relationships at church, at work, in the community and most importantly in my family. I am now able to help and encourage others during difficult times.
I feel like I am actually participating in life instead of watching it go by. I am alive and well, thriving and looking forward to the future. Oh yea, I forgot to mention that I have ridden my motorcycle for over two years and absolutely love it. The outcome of this adventurous hobby has resulted in confidence and courage. Robyn helped me believe in myself. Anytime I used negative words, even in a joking manner in relation to myself, she would point it out and encourage me to be mindful of whether that was serving me or not.
I am living proof that if you want to live a happier, fulfilled life, it is possible. The only trick to this is you have to be willing to peel back layers of deep wounds and allow time for the scars to heal; it is worth every tear. Having a mentor like Robyn Norman during this time of my life was a true blessing!

I've been seeing Robyn on and off for several years and she always helps me understand what the truth of the situation is.  I've learned so much in our sessions and from work I've done per her suggestions as well as the books she's recommended.  I believe she's helped me become a better, healthier person.  Having Robyn in my life as a life coach and therapist has been a comfort and a blessing.
